Missions and Ministries of Mercy

Our story begins at the end….
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" (Revelation 7:9-10)

It has been said that “missions exists because worship doesn’t.” God has ordained that people of every nation, tribe and tongue will gather to worship Christ. It is through His people that He will accomplish this as we obey His command to…

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

We obey this command in our sphere of influence, among our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers or fellow students. Some also obey by going into full-time service, whether locally, within the US, or abroad. Those who remain at home (most of us) are called “to send them on their journey in a manner worthy of God. For they have gone out for the sake of the name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.” (3 John 7)

Whether we go ourselves or participate in this work by sending others, we have the confidence that it is the Lord’s will to accomplish this task, as evidenced in Jesus’ parting words to his disciples,

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

The Evangelical Free Church of Salt Lake City goes and sends by the command of Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to the end that Christ would be worshipped by those of every tribe and nation and tongue.
